China Eastern (CES) has recently concluded an official MOU with Shanghai Airport Customs and Shanghai Airport Bureau of Inspection and Quarantine in preparation for launching connecting flights at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. CES began tooperate transit joint-way flights at Terminal 1 of Shanghai Pudong International Airport from August 17, which is expected to further streamline the processes and reduce the time for flight transit. The new service will also have a positive impact on smooth operation during the 2010 Shanghai World Expo and the building of the Shanghai Air Hub.
As to September 15, the Pudong Passenger Guarantee Division under CES Shanghai Guarantee Department has helped 3,108 passengers board transit joint-way flights and cleared 4,442 pieces of checked luggage, which shows the three advantages of CESs transit joint-way service. The three advantages include: swift clearance; simple transit procedures that free the passengers from rechecking the ticket with their luggage; and shortened walking distance and waiting time to catch a transit joint-way flight as a result of multiple optimization efforts. CESs transit joint-way flight program draws much praise from passengers who have personally experienced the swift and convenient services.
