Q: HOW DOES CHILDREN TRAVELING ALONE?
A: Children 5 to 12 years of age (12 to 15 years old if requested by a parent or legal guardian) who are not accompanied on an aircraft by a parent, legal guardian or someone who is at least 18 years of age, are considered unaccompanied minors and are subject to specific restrictions. Travel arrangements for these young travelers should be booked at your China Eastern local office at least 7 days before scheduled departure.
China Eastern Airlines is proud to offer unaccompanied minor service and will help children traveling alone:
Check-in and process baggage at the ticket counter.
Assist the child through Immigrations and security check.
Proceed to the gate for boarding.
Once on board, our crew will take care of the child.
Upon arriving at the destination, our staff will go through immigration and baggage claim with the child and guide him/her to the guardian who is waiting.
A: Children under 2 years of age are infants and must be accompanied by a passenger who is at least 18 years old. Unfortunately, infants cannot, for safety reasons, be accepted within 14 days of birth. Special restrictions may apply to infants that were born more than 14 days premature.. An adult must accompany the infant at all times during flight.
No seat will be allocated to the infant unless a separate child fare ticket has been purchased. Single adult passengers travelling with more than one infant must purchase at least one child fare ticket.
Infant tickets cannot be booked online. If you wish to travel with an infant, please contact your travel agent, local China Eastern office, or a member of China Eastern’s airport check-in counter staff.
If you have questions or need additional information on traveling with an infant, please contact your local China Eastern office.
A: Expectant mothers whose pregnancy has proceeded without complications can travel on China Eastern flights up to the end of the 36th week of pregnancy, i.e. up until four weeks before their scheduled delivery date.
Please note, passengers who are 32-36 weeks pregnant are allowed to travel. While it is not required, we recommend expectant mothers beyond the 32nd week of their pregnancies to carry a current letter, issued within 72 hours of departure, from a physician stating that the pregnancy is uncomplicated and confirming the expected date of delivery. The physician should state that the patient’s pregnancy does not prevent her from travelling by air.
Unfortunately, safety concerns prohibit expectant mothers from traveling after the 36th week of pregnancy or within 7 days of giving birth.
A: China Eastern is proud to offer special meals for passengers with specific dietary, religious, and age issues. Special Meals must be ordered at least 24 hours prior to departure and are available only on flights where inflight meals are served. If you have questions or would like to request a Special Meal, please contact your local China Eastern office.
